The Therapists

Therapist + Owner

Heather M. Walker, M.A., LPC, NCC

Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She has earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a concentration in Child & Adolescent Development from Southern New Hampshire University. Heather’s clinical experience includes time spent in community mental health care while working at Vibrance Health (formerly, MEHOP), and The Warrior’s Refuge. Heather is detail-oriented, taking each moment in the vulnerable spaces with clients as a true honor to be there. She is passionate about breaking cycles, healing trauma, and finding a more effective path forward. Heather primarily works with children, teens, and young adults.

Taking an eclectic approach to treatment, as clients are not one-size-fits-all, Heather takes pride in offering personalized treatment to every individual she works with. She provides comprehensive, evidence-based treatment using play-based therapy, various psychotherapy theories, and some assessments with young children, adolescents, and young adults. Therapy ebbs & flows as clinician and clients get to know each other better, so the dynamics are ever-changing.

Clients can expect a down-to-earth vibe, as clients are asked to show up fully authentic, then Heather believes it is her responsibility to be wholly authentic, as well. With that, clients can expect to talk about the hard stuff, have action steps to work on between sessions, and to do periodic reviews of progress.

A bit about the therapist, outside of the clinical world. Heather and her husband, Glenn, are both United States Marine Corps veterans. They have been married for over 16 years, have one teenage daughter, and a mini goldendoodle. Although Heather and her family have lived in Bay City, TX for going on ten years, she is a native of upstate New York. When not working with clients, you can probably find Heather with her husband and daughter either watching a movie, sporting events, and just spending quality time together.

Brooke Zamora, B.S.,
Graduate Student Intern

Meet Brooke, she is a Counseling Intern at The Rustic Therapy and Wellness Center, PLLC.

Brooke is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Houston-Victoria and holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. Her passion for counseling comes from seeing firsthand how mental health struggles, addiction, and life’s challenges can affect individuals and families—especially in communities where support is limited.

Brooke feels it is important for prospective clients to know that she believes that everyone deserves to be heard and to have access to care that meets them where they are.

Brooke takes a person-centered approach to therapy, meeting clients with compassion and understanding. Her goal is to create a space where people feel heard, valued, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges in a way that works for them. She is passionate about advocating for individuals in need, whether someone is working through past trauma, navigating recovery, or simply trying to make sense of life’s challenges. Brooke wants future clients to know she is here to listen, support, and help build the tools needed to move forward.

“Seeking help is a big step, and I truly believe no one should have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin your journey, I’d love to be part of it”. -Brooke
